President's Message, May 2002
By Gordon P. Gitlen, Esq.

The attendance for the February meeting was approximately 140 people. The two guest speakers who were highlighted for the evening were Dr. Allan Rudison, who was very informative concerning mold and a representative from the Santa Monica Fire Department, Mr. Paul Radomski, Fire Prevention Inspector, who discussed the Knox Box Program, Hoarder Program, and answered questions. The feedback from the program by the members was outstanding and we intend to bring other speakers to future meetings, which will be of interest to you. Thank you again to Dr. Rudison and Mr. Radomski.

Our first fundraiser for this year is set for May 10, 2002 at 6:00 PM, at Magicopolis in Santa Monica and we hope that you will attend to support the ACTION Legal Fund and have a very enjoyable evening as well. Since it is also geographically desirable (on 4th Street), there is no excuse to avoid having a wonderful evening of food, refreshments and magic. See the ad for this event in this issue for more details. Magicopolis has consistently received excellent reviews for its show and venue, so we are all looking forward to a pleasant evening. Of course, we encourage you to bring your friends.

We are also pleased that the general membership confirmed the nominations for the Board of Directors of ACTION and I look forward to working with the new Board of Directors. The Board of Directors have a meeting once a month during which time we discuss pending litigation, pending legislation, both statewide and in the City, matters of interest to the members and coordinate the presentation of each monthly meeting. And, of course, it is always a pleasure to meet with our Board of Directors because of their commitment to preserve property owner interests in the City of Santa Monica and draw on the experience of each member of the Board to the benefit of our organization.

Please join us for our next meeting on May 6, 2002 at 7:30 PM where you will again hear from informative speakers, hear the results from the last election, etc. We hope to have more than 140 members in attendance, so arrive early to get a good seat.

Our member referral service is coming along very nicely. Many members have filled out the referral forms, which will enable other members to use qualified workman on their properties. If you have a workman that you are satisfied with and would like to generate more business for that workman, please fill out the form and submit it to the ACTION office as soon as possible.

Word is getting out that our meetings are very informative, so I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting. Bring a friend!
